May 5th Photos. A few weeks after the first rain storm and leak that left our apt a mess and all of the neighbors below us. (this is set 1)
Diary Entry #1..the back log
I’m going to attempt to start uploading all the documentation (photos/video/etc) of our leaky ceiling and our attempt to get our building to fix it and the lack of action on the building managments side. Mitch, our building manager, has been promising to fix the leak in our ceiling since we moved in last February. They have come a couple of times and cut out badly water damaged sections of the dry wall from the ceiling and replaced them and painted to look new again…but alas, the next rain the problem comes right back.
Last April we had a huge rain that had water literally pouring out of our hallway and kitchen light fixtures. It was just like someone had turned on a faucet. It was so bad it leaked all the way through our floor and into the apartment below. Then it leaked through their floor and the next floor and the next til it got to the first floor. We live on the 6th floor. We had all the neighbors from the floors below us come up and talk to us about the leaks in their apartment.
They quickly came and tore up our roofdeck saying that the problem was the drain…the leak didn’t stop once they fixed the drain. Tony, the super/maintinance guy told us that the problem had been there long before we moved in and they had had a roofing company come in and give the building a quote but the owner of the building and Mitch didn’t want to pay so they went ahead and put the roof deck down on top of the leaky roof. After tearing our deck up to fix the drain/leak It then took them a month before they finally put the roof deck back together and it was after I told them we were having a party and they better have some serious liability insurance in case if someone got hurt. They had a crew of guys come up that day and put it back together in a couple of hours.
